Child-Help Tanzania’s main focus is helping children with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in Tanzania.
When children receive proper treatment at the beginning of their lives, the basis for a fulfilling life with their families, communities, and regular schools is laid.
With the aid of local partners, Child-Help constructs programmes to provide life-long support both to children with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida and their families.
To guarantee the quality of care provided, Child-Help Tanzania trains everyone involved: the children and their parents, self-help groups, nurses, pediatricians, paramedics, and surgeons.
Child-Help undertakes primary prevention in all projects by providing folic acid and proper diet education, thus significantly lessening the chance of children being born with spina bifida.
With the right materials, medication, and a couple of simple techniques we train children with spina bifida and their parents. It only takes a couple of days for most children to get dry and clean. This type of care is vital in preventing renal damage.
Child-help launches support actions in areas where disasters strike and where our partners are active. During the corona epidemic, we provided face masks, disinfectants, and food parcels.
Every year Child-Help donates thousands of shunts and other medical equipment, including catheters and medication, ensuring children with Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida get a new lease on life.
Child-Help builds homes where children with spina bifida or hydrocephalus and their parents are supported before and post-surgery.
Our goal: to inform, to support, and to strengthen.
Child-Help also focuses in all their projects on education regarding a varied, nutritious diet in order to avoid future cases of disabilities such as spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
Since most parents are also active in agriculture, we also introduce alternative forms of agriculture such as perma-culture.
